Small suggestions for more mindfulness, relaxation and well-being

Breathing is one of the simplest and most effective ways to influence your well-being. It usually happens unconsciously, but through conscious breathing, you can specifically calm your body and mind. Deep, regular breaths activate the parasympathetic nervous system, promote relaxation, and support concentration. Regular breathing exercises help strengthen your body awareness and deal with everyday demands with more calm.

Breath – a natural resource for calm and balance

Find a comfortable seat or lie down and relax.
Gently close your eyes – if you like – and bring your attention fully to your breath.

Feel the air flowing in through your nose…
and slowly flows out again.
You don’t have to change anything – just observe.

Inhale…
Exhale…

Notice how your chest or stomach rises and falls.
With every breath, a little more peace can flow into you.

When thoughts arise – that is quite normal –
let them pass on kindly, like clouds in the sky.
Simply gently return your attention to your breath.

Inhale – Expanse
Exhale – Let go

Stay with yourself for a few more breaths…
and when you are ready, slowly open your eyes again.

Mini-meditation: Consciously perceive your breath (duration: approx. 3–5 minutes)

The sympathetic nervous system is active when we are under stress or need energy. It ensures that our body switches to peak performance:

  • The heart beats faster

  • The muscles tense

  • Breathing becomes faster

  • Digestion slows down

This is practical when we need to react quickly – for example in dangerous situations or when faced with everyday challenges.

Sympathetic nervous system – the “accelerator mode

Parasympathetic nervous system – the “relaxation mode”

The parasympathetic nervous system is the opposite of the sympathetic nervous system. It ensures that we recover and relax:

  • The heartbeat slows down

  • Breathing becomes calmer and deeper

  • The muscles relax

  • Digestion is stimulated

This mode is important so that the body can regenerate – for example when sleeping, after eating or during rest periods.

I miss the real thing

There are days when the world feels strange.

People pass each other,

talk a lot – but say little.

I see stressed faces, empty looks,

People who just stare at their smartphones

and ask myself:

Where has the real thing gone?

Where are the deep conversations?

The words that warm –

not just sound?

Where are the glances and smiles as we pass by?

A short greeting, a nod of the head,

see and perceive each other.

I miss that.

And yes, it makes me sad.

Not bitter.

Just... quiet.

Because I believe we can do better.

Because I feel that there is something waiting in each of us,

that just wants to be seen.

Maybe this is the beginning:

Stop playing.

But just... stay real.

In spite of everything.

The power of small gestures

Sometimes it is not the big words,

not the perfect sentences or spectacular actions –

but the small one.

A look that says, "I see you."

A smile as you pass by.

A hand that silently provides support.

A "I'm thinking of you" for no reason at all.

These are not trivial matters.

These are traces.

They stay long after the day has passed.

In a world that is often loud and demanding,

It is these small gestures

that remind us:

You're not alone.

You are important.

You are human.

We wait so often for the big thing,

and overlook

that the most valuable things sometimes come quietly.

A little attention.

A little warmth.

A bit of real humanity.

Often that’s all you need.

And yet it changes everything.

Where has the appreciation gone?

Sometimes I wonder when we stopped really seeing each other.

When did words like "thank you," "I appreciate you," or simply a genuine smile or return of a greeting lose their meaning?

It's as if we live past each other in our daily lives - busy, distracted, trapped in our own worlds.

I feel it more and more often: appreciation is being lost.

Not because people are evil. But because we 've forgotten how to pause.

We rush from appointment to appointment, scroll through other people's lives and lose touch with real togetherness.

Inconsiderate behavior is the order of the day. Everyone only thinks about themselves, regardless of whether their behavior hinders or disturbs others.

That makes me sad.

Because appreciation is not a luxury – it is a basic human need.

To be seen. To be heard. To simply be there, without performance, without a mask.

I firmly believe that:

We can learn to truly meet each other again.

Not with grand gestures, but with small, honest moments.

A look. A word. A hug. A genuine "How are you?"

Appreciation begins with us.

New every day.

And maybe... this is exactly the change we all long for.

Become quiet

It has become quiet among the people.

Not because we have nothing to say –

but because we have forgotten how to listen .

I feel it in conversations,

in looks that don't really reach me,

in moments that pass faster than I can grasp them.

Appreciation...

It used to be noticeable –

in the tone of voice, in a touch, in words that came from the heart.

Today it seems to be fading –

lost between deadlines and screens,

displaced by haste and desire.

And that hurts.

Not loud.

But deep.

Because nothing material is missing.

Something human is missing.

Something we could actually give ourselves – free and yet so precious:

Time. Attention. Honest words.

Maybe it's naive to hold on to that.

But I believe:

Whoever really sees a person,

can make a small piece of this world more whole.
